About the Event
Plastic-Free Hackney's Monthly Pollution Pick* 🌿
Last Sunday of every Month From 10am -12pm; meeting at Princess of Wales pub car park E5 9RB
Plastic-Free Hackney are delighted to be running our Monthly Pollution Picks once again in 2022!
As ever, please come dressed in robust outdoor clothes with appropriate footwear (no open toed shoes). Unless it's torrential rain, we will go ahead whatever the weather, so waterproofs are recommended when wet. We also recommend that all volunteers use the hand sanitiser supplied.
Public loos are not readily available. We advise that you 'go' before you arrive ; )
Please do book a ticket in advance of coming to the Pollution Pick - this way we are able to keep track of numbers and know how much equipment we will need. If plans change we'd be grateful if you could cancel your ticket so we can ensure as many bodies are out there as possible removing the pollution.
You may wonder why we call these events 'Pollution Picks'. The word 'litter' puts the onus on the people who have dropped things, oh those thoughtless consumers, rather than the producers of single-use plastics. After all, if the plastic wasn't wrapping the crisps/water/coke/Haribo there'd be nothing to pick up.
On the topic of treats, TopUp Truck the mobile refill shop will be with us from 11am-1pm to provide your plastic-free groceries, so bring your empties to fill up. It's only fair to reward yourself with chocolate raisins/vegan sweets/insert-own-choice once you've done your bit :)
