About the Event

In recent weeks as lockdown has eased, London has seen an increase in littering across streets, parks and other public spaces. Adding to the usual plastic bottles and cans is discarded PPE waste such as disposable face masks and latex gloves. Not only are these an eyesore, but in most instances this type of rubbish poses a threat to wildlife, particularly when it ends up in our waterways.

So, after a long hiatus we have teamed up with recycling company First Mile to hold our first litter pick in what seems like forever! And judging from recent walks along the canal it is very much needed… We would love you all to join us for a physically-distanced litter pick to raise awareness and help clean up our local green spaces that we think we can all agree were a welcome reprieve during these past few months. Participants should meet outside The Princess of Wales pub in Hackney at 2pm on Friday 21st August. All are all welcome! (children under 18 will need to be supervised by an adult). Please help us all to keep safe by wearing face coverings and adhering to physical-distancing guidelines. We will provide sacks, litter pickers, disposable gloves and hand sanitiser.
